36ers Arena

Another name change for the Powerhouse

It's known as the 36ers Arena as it was recently sold by the Titanium group to a 36ers partner.

36ers will wait for Renovations prior to moving admin in and it will remain the spiritual home & training venue for the club

36ers will see out the five year lease for home games @ ent centre and longer term want to have a 15,000 capacity city venue

It looks to me the Sixers are heading in the right direction. All seem like good moves.

Should have taken the opportunity to just name it the Adelaide Powerhouse. I know the name links in with the old Clipsal sponsorship but a majority of people still refer to it as the Powerhouse anyway, it's a lasting brand on the building.

Interesting the talk about a 15K capacity venue in the CBD, not sure where that would fit? Something to work out in the future. Entertainment Centre is serving its purpose for now and is a million times better than going to see games at the Powerhouse.

Memorial Drive seems the most obvious for an arena, but Tennis SA seems to have gone a different direction with their redevelopment.

AVMC (government owned corporation that runs the Entertainment Centre, the Convention Centre and Hindmarsh Stadium) were pushing for a combined soccer stadium and arena across the road from the Convention Centre.

Adelaide Oval SMA (SACA and SANFL) were pushing for an arena on the North Adelaide golf course.

And I think Adelaide United wanted a 30,000 seat soccer stadium out the back of Adelaide Oval but that was going no where.

Sixers might be feeling the city stadium is going to get stuck down in typical SA delays.

Arena location is better than Port.

Buy the land the old industry was on on Crittenden Road. Put some outdoor 3x3 courts on it. Turn it into a Hub fpr basketballers.

Build a real restaurant.

Get state government to support it with public transport. That's the big issue, to get to the Arena you have to drive.
