NZB v CNS Mar 10

New Zealand must be looking forward to the NBL Cup finishing so they can head to their new digs in Tassie, Cairns players almost need a week in their saunas to re-adjust to the humidity back home. Both teams testier than a bunch of sailors who have been at sea for too long without the embrace of a woman. Breakers trounced Adelaide, Adelaide trounced Cairns, surely Breakers double trounce Cairns?

Crazy to think this is a bottom of the table clash. Before the season started I had both Cairns and NZ making the finals. Obviously, didn't factor in the following:
- The loss of DJ Newbill to Cairns.
- How out of shape Lamar Paterson would be (now injured)
- The affect of New Zealand being away from home / affected by COVID.

Breakers will be hoping to go 2/3 from their next 3 and this one is the easiest. If the Breakers continue to play like they have recently, this could get ugly for Cairns.

Any news on how far away is Patterson?

Corey injured and not playing. I expect Cairns to win this fairly comfortably.

^Tai's great but he can’t do it alone. Where are Corey’s 20+ points per game going to come from...

More ball for Delaney and Abercrombie.
Cairns bigs all on multiple fouls in the 1st quarter.

Healthy 24-11 lead for NZ at the end of the 1st.
Colton Iverson now fit is a beast.
Cairns have issues. Oliver's body language is terrible.

I can't watch the game, but Oliver should be feasting on the NZ front court.

Is Oliver insisting on pick and popping as opposed to rolling?

Cam Oliver sure is producing for someone having a crappy attitude, look out when he is locked in.

He's scoring yes but defensively he isn’t doing a lot.

Go Finnget in that low block. Abercrombie get in to 8-10 feet then elevate. That gas to be the worst coaches challenge of all time.

Kelley gives King 13 mins....King is +17 with 12 points.

Noi....1-9

I know Noi is in Cairns' long term plan and King is looking for something higher but King deserves some of Noi and Djeric's minutes.

Noi is terrible. Give King his minutes. The kid can play but needs a chance and when he has some confidence he will shoot much better.

Cairns did well to come back into it but the Breakers were obviously fatigued. Iverson must have played 35+ let alone Abercrombie and Delaney.

Abercrombie is a gun. A lot of people say he isn't aggressive enough but coaches have to draw plays to play to his strengths because he isn’t a great creator. If the Breakers can get him and Delaney 8-10 shots they’ll be much better.

Ok can't be in Cairns long term plans, he’s going to nba. Someone will chuck a lot more money at him than he’s worth.
Abercrombie has always been a gun. He just plays team first.

What is actually up with Oliver?

Bad Santa alluded to it on Overtime that Oliver is in a bad headspace, likely to do with coaching clash. Kelly doesn't seem like the kind of dude you'd clash with though.

Baffling.

Jamie o'Laughlin will be knifing Mike for his job. He be hoping they sack him mid season so he can finish out the year.

Kelly's calm, quiet but don’t think for one minute he’s not tough, like all good coaches he knows it starts at defensive end. He wants defensively minded players. Noi struggling, Djeric got better but still weak at times. If Oliver is not following instructions Kelly will let him know.

Nice defensive five minutes from Short, only player that looked like going with adnam. Still believe United will win this, they have some selfish players though.

^ I noticed he was limping pretty badly last night on the sideline. I think it might be more serous than the Breakers are letting on.
