LaMarcus Aldridge retires abruptly from the NBA

Had only just joined Brooklyn five games ago, averaging 13 PPG.

He noticed an irregular heartbeat in his last game, had it checked out, and then retired.

35 years of age. Averaged 19.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG across 15 seasons.

I've had an irregular heartbeat before. Its a very unsettling experience and I let mine go for three days before seeking treatment. That third day I couldn't walk up the stairs without losing my breath.

Wasn't it an irregular heartbeat that killed Hank Gathers?

Smart decision he's right at the end of his career anyway and don't want to risk being another Reggie Lewis.

Reggie Lewis was a frequent cocaine user.

As a Celtics supporter losing Len Bias and Reggie Lewis was tough.

I've always respected Aldridge's game and wish him all the best in the future.

I would have liked to see him go out a winner with BKN but not to be.
