2021 National Junior Classic Cancelled

Basketball Victoria have unfortunately made the decision to cancel the 2021 National Junior Classic after rescheduling has been unsuccessful.

Due to the uncertainty of interstate travel and the current COVID-19 situation in Victoria and Australia, Basketball Victoria have made the unfortunate decision to cancel the 2021 National Junior Classic.

The 128-team tournament features participants from VJBL VC Divisions, Country Championships winners and interstate teams, and the event was already postponed from the original Queen's Birthday long weekend (12-14 June, 2021).

A second attempt to run the event was aimed at September 18-20, 2021, however, with the COVID-19 crisis in NSW and the uncertainty of what September restrictions will be in place in Victoria, the difficult decision was made to cancel the event and look forward to planning a greater event in 2022.

Hopefully BV are thinking of putting on some form of tournament for local VC teams in the Sep holidays, assuming we are out of strict lockdown by then.

Darwin Sept 26 - Oct 3.

Will teams need to quaratine for 2 weeks prior? NSW will still have border issues but as we saw last time, there's always the chance (as per ACT today) of a snap lockdown occuring just before the 26th.

Truth, yes, but under the circumstances it looks pretty unlikely.

I'm praying that 14s goes ahead or is at least postponed & rescheduled later, like in the Term 4 holidays.

I coach a lot of kids & they're missing out on so much.

After the NSW PSSA was cancelled last year, my son is going to be heartbroken if he misses out on getting to go to Nationals this year.

& that's the same for a couple of his team mates too & I'm sure plenty of other Year 7 kids across Australia.

If it doesn't go ahead you can blame your own Premier, who has essentially screwed the entire east coast over for her severe lack of duty of care, responsibility for her inability to act sooner and just her overall denial of how bad this was at the start of the outbreak. She has single handedly thrown millions of people under the bus all whilst pointing the fingers at other state leaders on how 'bad' they were doing by having snap lockdowns, then when the time came for her to step up to the mark and do something, she side stepped that thing quicker than an All Black winger.

^^^^ This.

I'm so sick of people complaining about BA or BV etc. There are two people responsible. Morrison and Gladys. If you voted for either look in the mirror.

Exactly, anyone with even a 1/4 brain should be getting into scumo and gladameir. This all should have been so much better had some true leadership had been in place.

You guys are all 100% on the money!

I've never been an enthusiast on politics at all, but our PM & Premier have been absolutely criminal since our initial outbreak & are crushing the lives of not just our basketballers, but everyone in NSW!

Scono and Gladys are in office because the average persons vote counts.

If you had to qualify to vote in this country, we would see some progress.

Agreed totally. Gladys and Morrison has wrecked a hell of a lot of things with their neglect. The longer they are in power the worst the outcomes for the country, and for junior sport.
