Bairstow Training With 36ers

Cameron Bairstow has been training in Adelaide with the 36ers, with the club apparently looking at him amongst a few other players.

Given a reasonably strong roster already, they might be thinking it's worth taking a punt on him in the hope he stays healthy.

Would be a very serviceable bench big and backup in case Humphries gets hurt again. Still think they should sign an import big.

No brainer! Sign him up. Superb player.

As I said in the other thread Cam Bairstow is virtually unsignable now. His last 3 years in the NBL he's missed more than 2 full years worth of basketball. Didn't play a game in his last 1.5 seasons at the Bullets and missed most of last season at the Hawks due to injuries again.

The only way his signing would be tolerable if he's earmarked as the player to drop off the playing roster when a third import gets signed during the season, assuming one ever does get signed of course.

There is a reason no one else has signed him.

JVG won't sign him.

I think if you get him cheaply enough, he is definitely worth a spot..

When your bench big options are currently Sotto and Malou, I think signing Bairstow would be a no brainer.

John Casey said near the end of the video 36ers will trial other options

Depending on how much he's paid the could/will go towards another import is main question. Could that money mean the difference to a budget buy or a legit game changer.

When healthy still useful at the offensive end, ok defensively, not great. He'd be worth a punt for minimum wages.

Casey also said that Daniel Johnson was the Sixer's best big man.

Gulp.

Why then are we paying Humphries the highest dollar?

Humphries has a better agent

Either that or Humphries is a better player than DJ, a fair bit better IMO.

DJ never got close to making the NBA for a reason.

Keep in mind Casey is trying to pump up his hometown team, he also said on the 7 News last night that if the Sixers sign Bairstow they'll have the most talented team in the league lol He wouldn't even make us a playoff team.
