Giddey has third straight triple double

17/10/10 against the Spurs, following on from 28/11/12 against the Knicks and 11/12/10 against Chicago.

Averaging 16/9/8 over February to date and 12/8/6 for the season.

Apparently first rookie since Oscar Robertson to have three TDs in a row. Big O was 22 that season, whereas Giddey is still 19.

"He's a good player," Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. "I thought he played a really good floor game again tonight. The triple-double stuff is just a byproduct of how he's playing."

Not hating, he is definitely a good player... but triple doubles mean squat these days in the NBA.

He'd be 12/8/9 if his teammates didn't brick lay ups and lobs

For a rookie, and from an Aussie perspective particularly Boomers, it's a damn good sign though

Definiely from a Boomers standpoint this is what you want to see... hopefully his outside shot improves along with his defence over the next couple of years.

Shooting (and scoring efficiency in general) remains an issue. 26.7% from 3pt, 47.8% true-shooting percentage. These are awful numbers. But he's a rookie, so there is hope he improves. He could become a all-star level player!

I reckon Motum is the most overlooked / underrated guy in Australian basketball right now. Having a great career in Europe, has done well whenever he's had a chance in the green and gold but keeps getting looked over.

I think at least with the Boomers management / coaches he's close. Seems to be one of the last cuts most major tournaments (should have been ont he 2019 team) but with fans its like he's just not even close.

Motum has definitely been a bit unlucky based on his professional career, maybe he just doesn't stand out at camp, I don't know. He's a good offensive player and there's been no shortage of Boomers' moments when it feels like Patty is the only guy who can put the ball in the hoop. Feels like Motum would be a nice guy to have on the court in those moments.

It does seem that at least they've learned from the mistake of 2019 where they released the last cuts too far out from the start of the tournament prompting them to bring in Barlow when they needed a last minute replacement. Though having said that, the Opals management didn't have any contingency plan in when Liz left the team that they'd selected way too far in advance.

That's always been the way with guys in Europe. It's just that much harder to follow their progress, so they get overlooked.

Yeah thats fair. I dont think Andersen ever got the credit he deserved from fans until his later years despite being one of the best bigs in Europe for a long time, but at least the people in charge of the Boomers program knew his worth.
