Big V round 1 predictions

What are poster's thoughts on who has the best squads?
I can't find much information about teams, associations arent making much of an effort.
Although kudos to Sth Pen. There introduction on Facebook was great...maybe a little less smoke but least making an effort.

Anon - love a league basher, always here. it falls under elite senior comps int he state of victoria, its a hopefully a non-covid year LETS GO STORM!

Maybe you don't care about it but others might, its like some like the rain and others don't. i try not to worry about what people like or dislike and you should do the same.

Not a league basher but sometimes people take it too serious. I am a basketball purist. Let the basketball talk. Not everyone around it

Big V SCM & SCW are far from elite. Some of the SYC teams would win games against them. A serious level of consolidation of divisions needs to happen to improve the standard. Not enough talent at junior level to justify the amount of senior teams.

It's been the same conversation about VJBL, saturation of teams. Unfortunately it has become an important revenue stream for BV and standard of play is less important than revenue.

Dr Dre - You're trying to say that it's better for the sport to tell these adults and kids that they can't participate more than their one domestic game a week?

BB - What I am saying is do not promote yourself as an elite league when clearly you are not.

Back in the old days E.g 80/90's these leagues (CVIBL, VBL) were not an all inclusive participation strategy but an opportunity for the top 10% talented individuals to improve and play against similar types. Kids and even adults came and watched excited to see great basketball.

Right now myself who in my own right a poor basketballer even at a decent domestic level but a decent feel/IQ of the game could walk into most if not all Div 1 or Div 2 Big V teams and get a bench spot. Why you say? Because Big V is an all inclusive come one come all league where anyone can get a game. Miss a tryout in one suburb, drive 10 mins and make a team.

Solution - Increase domestic competitions, stop A & B Grade men & women playing zone defence. This then gives the more serious wannabe semi pro basketballer an opportunity to play a better standard without making the state leagues a joke.

Championship men
Camberwell to defeat Blackburn
Mckinnon win over Westernport
Chelsea versus Wyndham is hard to pick probably Chelsea
Sunbury versus Chelsea I think probably Sunbury because Chelsea will be tired
Hume to defeat Wyndham
McKinnon to stop Camberwell's doubleheader

Championship women:
Bulleen win over Hume
Wyndham over Chelsea
Sunbury over Sothern peninsula and
McKinnon to defeat Packenham

Division One men :
Difficult to pick but probably Melbourne university over Warrnambool
Keysborough to defeat Bellarine.
Bulleen to surprise southern peninsula
Cario bay to defeat Cobourg
Warrandyte vs Shepperton no idea, guessing Shepperton
Bellarine to bounce back and get a victory over RMIT
Bulleen to defeat Collingwood

Division One women:
Don't know enough to have an opinion yet

For all of the sh** that people used to put on Justin Nelson at least, he had this stuff covered

Copying from above.

Championship Men
Camberwell to beat Blackburn
Mckinnon win over Westernport
Wyndham will beat Chelsea
Sunbury to beat Chelsea
Hume to beat Wyndham
McKinnon to beat Camberwell

Championship Women:
Bulleen win over Hume
Wyndham over Chelsea
Southern Pen over Sunbury (battle of the bottom?)
McKinnon to beat Pakenham comfortably

Division One Men :
Melbourne Uni over Warrnambool
Keysborough over Bellarine.
Southern Pen over Bulleen
Corio Bay to defeat Coburg comfortably
Shepparton will be too good for Warrandyte
RMIT to beat Bellarine
Bulleen and Collingwood should be a close one. I think Bulleen by a whisker.

Division One Women:
Melbourne Uni to beat Warrnambool
Camberwell to beat Warrandyte
Craigieburn to beat Western Port (this is a blatant guess)
Bellarine to beat Mildura in a close one
