BSA State Champs

Are State champs relevant & should they only be for div 1 or all divisions ?
What is the purpose of State Champs compared to winter championship ?

classics selection a few weeks prior, U14 club champs selection.
Teams have to prove themselves at a tournament level not a 5 month one game a week competition. So it is testing your teams depth.
Div 2 reserve comp prepares the next group.
Winter GF result is too late in the year.
One year they ran it with a third tier too.
U10s a few years too.

In terms of logistics it would be extremely difficult, but why not combine 1s and 2s together and even bring in maybe top 2 in div 3. Lots of cases of div 2 teams being better than other clubs div 1s. There's the argument that those kids should move clubs for the opportunities to play higher and even things out, but that has never really worked apart from a few examples.
Logistically it's a nightmare, but why not even adopt a play in scenario for teams. Could have a div 2 championship one weekend and then follow with full state championship later with reserve finalists joining div 1 tournament. It might even ease pressure on officials and venues spreading it out.

they did do that but it was canned.

They used to allow good Div 3 teams into reserves but the Div 3 teams won and made semi finals so that got knocked on the head.

The entire discussion about kids moving goes around in circles - basically if they are going to go they will find an excuse and move.

You want the best juniors playing in the highest grade regularly.

Would be too much for the losing club to handle if the lower division team cleaned them up.

Restrictions on state champs have been influenced greatly by official availability.

So what if one club's 2 teams finish top 3 in U14s at state champs ? - as far as I know you can't send 2 teams from one club to classics or junior club championships. yet in state champs only 1 team can be nominated for points - so only 1 team gets through but the 2nd team finished high enough for classics and U14 club.
