In the last 20 year the top 4 Australian guards would have to be Andrew Gaze, Brett Maher and much to some poster chagrin Shane Heal and Phil Smyth

So year I do thing Brett Maher is one of the top Australian basketball player of all time.

Would absolutely be in the top 3 Aussie shooting guards BUT defensively?

Heal and Smyth shot the ball as well but, defensively were far superior.

You are saying that Heal was a better defensive player than Brett ? LOL . Shane may be dirtier and stronger, but was often lazy.

I dont think too many players were worried about the "hammer" on the defensive end, just how far back he could shoot in at the other END !

Smyth i would agree, very tenacious defender.

Maher may not win defensive Player of the Year any time soon but is a very good team defender and solid positionally.
Heal was a very ordinary defender.

I see him in the same class as Jason Kidd and Mark Nash.. ok, ok hes only played NBL:... but if he was younger i reckon the scouts would be all on him. I saw him play against the USA last year and he did more then held his own, he couldve been a star in the NBA.... just if he was a lil younger... its a shame./

Hurley,

I think you mean Steve Nash. What is it with so many people getting Steve and Mark mixed up?

Yeah , coz i reckon NBA MVP Mark Nash would be pissed at people comparing him to 36ers role player Steve Nash !!

;)

He's no where near the same league as Jason kidd and steve nash. Bad comment. He can shoot better than Kidd, and that's about it

But as far as Aussie ballers go, a true legend!
