Another blow to NBL FTA opportunities

Channel 10 have lost the coverage rites to the V8'S to Channel 7.

10 now has football day and night on weekends with 9, 7 will have sole focus on the v8s.

7 where supposed to by interested in the NBL until the AVESCO group gave them the V8 opportunity.

My mail on the V8 deal is it is far from being a done deal - despite it being in every News Limited paper. But from insiders they reckon it is VESA trying to get a better deal for itself from channel ten. Why would seven spend so much money on football and not show football sunday afternoon when it actually rates quite well.

Hey Ch 10 without V8's why not basketball then or Ch 9, all they have in summer is Australia's games in cricket.

Channel 10 has been a key player in the success of the V8's. Channel 7 have already shown us what they did or didnt do with the coverage.

If this news is true (spoke to Neil Crompton in Darwin last year and he confirmed that if 10 won the rights for AFL again it would probably fall this way)then I recon it will be a sad day for V8 lovers.

Channel 10 have been fantastic for motor sports.

P.S. lets hope F1 can find its way onto pay TV as a replay soon. If you forget to tape it the night before there is no opportunity to catch up on the race.

All comes about beacuse Sandown clashes with the AFL finals. AVESCO flexed their muscle and canned Ten for making them move teh date for Sandown.

I do hope that 7 do the right thing and keep the excellent V8 coverage up.

Still have to wonder why 7 would not pick up the NBL, each station has certain amount of hours of local production ot meeds done and for this reason alone NBL would make sense.
