Sturt got up over North with a balanced team effort. They lost ozzie to a cut on his head during the first quarter. North had a bit of a sniff at the end due to some sloppy Sturt turnovers, but they had control for most of the second half.

Oscar left early in the first quarter from a hit to the head by Dallas Quigley. Got stitches and returned after the game had finished.

Early on, North was up by 15 but Sturt rallied and ended up holding off the Rockets. Ng had around 30, and Smylie had something like 22 and 17 - both were very impressive. In attendance, yet again, were Phil Smyth and Steve Breheny! Zorich was hot from outside for North but at one point the Rockets were whistled for three straight offensive fouls and that mostly dampened their efforts.

Update: Boxscores are in:

Zorich 29/6/6 in 36 minutes, plus 5 steals. Hambour 16/11/5 but 7 turnovers. Burdon had 17 and Groves 10.

For Sturt, Maher had 15 points and 12 assists, was credited with one block, but definitely had two! Palmer played 33 minutes with Oscar out and had 8 and 6 and a couple of steals. Darren had 33/7/5, and Smylie 22 and 17.

Final score was 98-90.

North women knocked off Sturt, 78-63. Hill had 18, Lorenzini had 18 also and Coughlan 10. For the Sabres, Marino 14/5/5, H Bowley 11 and 9, Nixon 11 and 7 and M Bowley 12 and 8. Points off the bench didn't hurt North, 21-9 their way.

Forestville men took down West, 121-87. Arnold 26, Dix 24 and 10, Gange 20, Sutton 16/10/5. For West, Evan 18 and 9, Phillips 12, Craddock 13 and 7, Molitor 12 and Pearce 12.

The Eagles also won in the girls' game, 57-56. Newbold and Duke had 14, Newbold pulling down 14 boards. Fergus 12 and Lindsay 10/6/4 but 9 turnovers. Woosnam had 13 for West while Battistel had 11 and 8 and Coleman 9.

Woodville knocked off Eastern 110-105 in Mt Barker! Holmes 23, 20 and 9 not enough. 18/7/5 from Hill, 10 from Bungey and 21 and 6 from Madgen.

Woodville had 27 from Birmingham, 22 and 10 from Rees, 16 from Pascoe, 14 from Mapunda, 14/10/9 from Wilson and 11 and 10 from Puddifoot. Wow, didn't see that result coming.

Mavs won the women's game though, 63-51, without a single player hitting double figures. Hilton7 ad 8, Maycock 9, and Wilcox and Bycroft 8 each. For the Warriors, Barratt had 12 and 7, while Gathercole had 10.

So Centrals beat South in the womens game? Great job by the Centrals girls if they did. South women are on a huge slide.

Glenn Shaw allowed a 5 point lead to slip to a 6 point deficit before he called his first time out for the game - in the last two minutes -damage had been done.

Jae Conn 7/9 three pointers in the first half lit the game up but was shut down in the second. Vikki Kelson didn't start but was on in the opening minutes game lead changing numerous times in first half till South established some control and led for the majority of the second half and looked like doing enought to get the win. Centrals to their credit after dropping there bundle for a while came back strongly, and despite missing some clutch foul shots in the final minutes were jubilant with the win.

The men's game was interesting, especially the crowd antics on foul shots. Very amusing and I'm sure the crowd support helped get the boys over the line in a very tight finish. Centrals had led by 8-12 points for 90% of the game. With Reggie in foul trouble and off court South made a spirited challenge and hit the lead. Centrals steadying and keeping their heads won a game that they had appeared to have thrown away.

Both Southern women and men won today. Women by 7 and Men by 12 I think.
