Sydney Kings vs Adelaide 36ers tonight

Apparently The Advertiser says Marcus Timmons is in. Brett Wheeler is out with a torn calf.

Kings have David Barlow out for the season. Russell Hinder and Rodney Elliott have been pretty average recently, but Mark Worthington and Luke Kendall are controlling the team

The 36ers have lost three straight on the road. The Kings are coming off a win over Cairns, but have to back up against the Pigs later this round.

Can Adelaide get a win against a contender? Or will they need another 4-6 weeks to gel with the addition of Timmons?

Your thoughts?

nowhere close
Timmons will be under done
the team hasn't had time to gel (insert scarcasm here)
This team has shown week in week out they can't feed Horvath the ball constantly what makes us think they can find Timmons on a regular basis?

Personally I see a big loss by 20 or more.

I think that we will break the hoodoo and get our first won in Sydney since 1999,form says otherwise but if ever there was a time for a team to stand up and be counted then tonight presents the perfect foil and I for one will back Maher's fighing qualities.Sydney are not the poewerhouse that they used to be and we need to realise that and punish them inside by force feeding Horvath the ball early and often, play with passion and play every possesion on its merits , knock a Kings player on his ass if the situation merits it, we were once the benchmark of the competition and are now a laughingstock , a win could be a step in right direction. Also this is our first horrific season in 10 years, just imagine the bickering if we were crap every year.

I think the sixers should play a bit smaller tonight. Sutton should play 30 odd minutes and just wear kendall like a glove. Run Brett and Willie in the 2 and 3 spots with Lanard giving them a rest. Rotate Nash, Mastro and Timmons(?) on Worthington (this match up worries me greatly - but I do not see who can guard him - maybe a different look by going for Cooper or even Sutton on him for a short burst). Horvath in the five spot backed up by Cooper.

And Lanard won't be giving anyone a rest. He is also out injured.

If Ng is travelling, I think this is who we have available:

Maher/Ng
Farley/Burdon
Timmons/Majstro
Horvath/Nash
Cooper/

Injured: Sutton, Copeland, Wheeler, Hill.

Sydney will not likely get full benefit from the home crowd tonight as I imagine that many of the Sydney supporters don't want to see a game against a "crap" team. It all helps. My head tells me Adelaide will lose, but my heart refuses to listen.

Well I give them no chance and the bookies give them less then no chance with sydney $1.09 to win. Also its $1.67 for Sydney to win by 11+ which I think will be the result.

The only chance is if farley has a break out game and scores 35+ and our defense some how slows them down.

Adelaide paying $6.75 for the win - two horse race with a few X-Factors in play - worth a $20?

Look for Ed Scott to make his mark in the league by torching our guards tonight. Sutton may have been a chance to contain him a little, but Farley has hardly been a defensive force this year, Maher may be a little slow for him and Ng isn't exactly renowned as a glove.

On the flip side, I reckon Horvath can get the better of Hinder and Crosswhite if he's given the ball.

Centrebet have the 36ers at $8.60 and $1.90 if they get within 13 points.

Horvath is $2.40 for more than 24 points.

Sydney ....... Daylight ...... That other team with the good warm up.

Sydney unbeaten at home this season? However also a penchant for not scoring big numbers so will win - easily but not by a huge margin.

Only just spotted this - Boti has tied his game preview into the theme that the overtime loss to the Kings was a turning point for the season.

Seven-year drought a 36er hoodoo

They've never been the same since, doubt, injury and indolence undermining whatever confidence was being built.

Worst joke i've heard all year Unit. Well, if Smyth thinks things went wrong because of the loss in Adelaide to the Kings, will he be expecting a opposite response after this win?? With the Pigs next (I think), very nice opportunity to build what may resemble a winning streak!!

Oh, clearly Timmons was a nice addition, and the scare of lost court time may've giving Mastrovich and Nash a bit of a spark. All played well from what the stats show. With Copeland, Sutton and Wheeler fit, it will increase the level of play in training sessions no matter how relaxed Phil may want them!

YEa, great win for the team!!
Heres hoping we can retain timmons for the season and get the injured guys back and go on a bit of a role!! yea looks like Timmons has fitted in well 10 n 5 is a good start and he will probably improve and he will definatly make training a bit harder and force nash n majstro to perform if they dont want to lose there minutes!!

If the last Kings game was a turning point, hopefully this one will be too. Majstrovich must be relieved to get back into the numbers.

Who would've picked this result without Farley or Horvath putting up big numbers?!

Excellent work by the team. Hopefully they take that form into this coming round as the Pigs are taking it to a few teams.

Goes to show that when you rely on the top 3, it's not enough to win games. The whole team have to perform well. This is evident in teams like the Bullets where they have a strong bench. It doesn't matter who is subbed in, the game does not lose its quality. Basketball will always be a team sport and to play it well, the whole team has to play.
