Mills is on fire! He leads all scorers with 15 points 3min into the 2nd quarter. He is really putting on a show, with 4/4 on three's and has 5 assists also.

LOL. Must have posted the same second as you LC. I'll leave the commentary to you. Mills is really pushing hard up and down the floor, creating chances for himself and his teammates. Great to see.

BTW Tolliver is hilarious, pulling the trigger instantly every time he gets the ball in a vain attempt to "get his". He's 4-10 and 1-5 3pts. Consummate D-Leaguer.

Thats a massive effort...Dont suppose we could swap him for Hill could we:)

If he can pull this effort for the next 3-5 games surely they would have to give him a go.

It makes Patty look great and the Blazers must give him a chance!

Funny reading the box score:

-Total of 184 FG attempts by both teams (Idaho shot 101!)
-Total of 42 3-point FG attempts (Idaho shot 32)
-Total of an unbelievable 72 FT's ( Bighorns shot 47!)

I think the stat that will please the Blazers coaching staff the most is Mills' 12 assists..In the D-League (usually full of self-centered individuals), he showed he can score the ball, whilst still distributing and sharing the ball and most importantly getting the win. 38 is an amazing debut..but with 12 assists as well! Must go to the show.
Its going to be tough to break into the rotation if he does go to the Blazers, even though Blake has gone down with pnemonia..The Blazers still have Miller and Bayless..Bayless has in fact been playing really well lately although he isn't a pass-first PG..more of a scorer playing the PG position

As already mentioned - the 12 assists is a big deal, but only 1 turn over in 38 odd minutes is pretty handy too.

Obviously wasn't forcing his game. Great for his future and for the next few years in the Boomers.

How good was that performance in a professional debut in a return from injury? Simply awesome! He won't be in the D- League for long...

Big Ups to Patty , kid has major talent and big heart . The best thing is that he raises his game against better competition so he won't be backing down when he gets some burn in the big time .

The thinking was that Mills went so late in the draft because he didn't pass and he would have trouble playing D being so small. Twelve assists and three steals makes those concerns laughable.

If this is true, awesome news:

"Just found out that Mills will be joining the team in LA since Blake will be hospitalized for all of next week. JP and Dante have stepped up, he needs to be ready to go! I'm curious to see how well he plays. Will be sweet if we get to see Mills + Bayless on the court together at the same time."

Let's hope he gets some minutes and shows what we all know he's capable of!!

Nate, what do you mean "if" it's true? You're the coach. If anyone should know, it's you!

Reply #263063 | Report this post

Yeah Nate that was mentioned during yesterdays game vs Golden State, so hes suiting up vs the clippers.. also heard they tried to get him back for that game but flights didnt work out

Pretty exciting stuff, Patty offers so much more than Blake, but Blake is a favourite of Roy and the coach.. just hope he gets a chance.. and just quietly i would take him ahead of Bayless who just cant hit his shots like patty can, especially the three, which is important playing in the backcourt with Roy and in the Portland offense..

Still dreaming of Patty, Roy and Rudy playing together, that would be fun!!

Well I missed the game but the main thing is Patty absolutely tore up the D League in his first (and perhaps only) game there!

Being able to seize an opportunity like this bodes very well for Mills NBA future. If he can get in a couple of games and play well for Portland this week Nate will have an interesting dilemma on his hands!
