Adelaide, Cairns, Illawarra,Melbourne,Perth,SEM, Sydney and NZ.

With the big names gone apart from Bairstow, isn't this basically a who cares thread. Unless there's a huge where does Doyle sign fan base.

Off the top of my head I think this might be who is left of the local players that were on rosters last season:

Adam Doyle
Angus Brandt (Europe)
Clint Steindl
Tom Jervis
Nathan Jawai
Rob Loe
Lucas Walker
Kuany Kuany
Dexter Kernich-Drew
Mitch Young
Cameron Bairstow
Deng Deng
Kyle Adnam
Dane Pineau
Deng Acouth
David Andersen
Kevin White
David Barlow
Alex Pledger
Craig Moller
Peter Hooley
Majok Majok

Of that list, the guys to chase IMO would be:

Clint Steindl
Tom Jervis
Mitch Young
Cameron Bairstow
Alex Pledger

Value for money guys:
Craig Moller
Peter Hooley
Rob Loe
David Barlow

Guys worth a risk:
Angus Brandt (Europe)
Kuany Kuany
Dexter Kernich-Drew
Deng Deng
Dane Pineau
Deng Acouth

Thanks for your contribution:
Majok Majok
Kyle Adnam
Nathan Jawai
Lucas Walker
David Andersen
Kevin White
Adam Doyle

Are you nuts? Jawai had a great season.

NB: Hasn't Pledge and Barlowe been re-signed by MU?

Still a LOT to happen IMHO. Most of those guys will end up somewhere.
Loe is probably done unless NZ wants him back.

Wouldn't mind seeing Moller back in Perth, but otherwise I'd be happy if we re-sign Steindl & Jervis.

I wonder how 36ers can salvage their roster to be competitive next year?

It's not ideal losing Randle, Creek and Sobey in successive years.

IMO signing Wiley and Moore leaves Adelaide a little bit screwed.

C Bairstow/Froling
F Johnson/Wiley
F Drmic/??
G Moore/Teys
G Tremble/??

One has to question the logic behind putting Mitch Young as a must have then have Barlow as a value guy, Brandt as a risk and Jawaii as a thanks for participating.

Mitch Young is a qld league style player no better, you Jawai and Young on the wrong lists. Steindl is no way more than a budget guy.

Losing Childress was a big loss too.

We cannot afford to have 2 mediocre imports this season. We need Trimble and Long level imports just to keep up with the top teams.

Dazz, I don't think Barlow & Pledger have re-signed yet it's expected though.

Lovebroker, By we do you mean the 36ers? We've already signed two of our three imports in Wiley & Moore. Only room left for one more.

Zodiac....yes I know and it's very lamentable we kept Moore.

I guess we should know not to doubt Wright but so far I don't see much excitement filling the new stadium let alone winning.

I like Mitch Young's game as you know he will give effort every play and if he gets his body right (hasn't seen the same since his bout of Glandular fever a couple of seasons back) then if Jervis leaves Perth for family reasons then I wouldn't mind him as a backup.

Would Perth be interested in Jawai again ?

I don't understand the hate for Adnam, I mean I know that he sucks but I'd take him over Peter Hooley every day of the week but yet nobody bags Hooley and his pathetic foul shooting.

Some people are stupid, my original post was 3rd from top saying this is a useless thread, who cares where a guy that will only hit the court in garbage time or injuries. Shit, Bruce got signed and ended up playing more minutes than guys already on roster.
Hot topic, where is Deng Deng going to warm bench let alone where is Larkins dad going to pay for him to wave towels at end of bench.

Johnson, frolling. Wiley, bairstow. Drmic, mcviegh Moore, teys Trimble (import), bruce. And then guy out if college for 11th spot. Not a too bad lineup.

Turner is only 29 so has time ahead of him so the question is would you want him as a backup big or go with go with Aussies live Jervis or Mitch Young.

That's the big IF isn't it anonymous? IF the Sixers manage to sign both Bairstow AND Trimble, then they will probably be playoff material. Even then, there's some big question marks about how they defend at the 3. We saw last season that Drmic, Moore, Teys, McVeigh were all over-matched trying to guard big wings. Hence why Deleon was dumped and Conger signed. Only real hope there is that Wiley plays the three and suddenly discovers how to play defence!

What about Barlow of Moller at the three, both play extremely good defence, Barlow very good three point shooter and Moller very good getting to the rack and rebounding. Melbourne haven't confirmed either signing yet.

Reply #740649 | Report this post

Was a problem last year and conger didn't seem to fix the problem. Trimble or similar pg is a must. Barstow who knows, but another year with frolling, a cheaper pf won't be a problem. I have faith in McVeigh to step up.

I actually like the idea of Barlow on the Sixers as an experienced utility guy who can set a good example for his team-mates. But I think he'd want too much money to leave Melbourne at this late stage of his career.

I also like Moller's hustle and think he'd be a nice spark-plug off the bench, but for me he hasn't shown a consistent enough outside shot to start at the three, nor has he shown he can rebound well enough to start alongside DJ at the 4. In a perfect world, you sign him as a cheap energy guy instead of Wiley and keep that extra import slot for a different skill-set. But too late now!

I also like the way McVeigh came on late in the season and I think he has already shown a higher skill level than Moller. I could see McVeigh being a Wagstaff level player, or if the Sixers get REALLY lucky, maybe he turns into a Mark Worthington type down the road. So there's probably not really a good fit for Moller on the Sixers with Wiley and McVeigh there.

"Would Perth be interested in Jawai again ?"

Jawai would add value anywhere, and yes, a combination of Jawai and Jervis would work. (Keeping that 3rd import slot available)

But the question is "would Jawai be interested in Perth again?" and I think the answer is no.
He went home for less than he was offered to renew in Perth, and his value has dropped further. Plus Cairns seems to have been good for him, he looked physically better than he has for a while. And whilst it is isolated, its not as bad as Perth. Perth still has the longest flights, and they don't don't agree with his back and leg issues.

Besides, a couple more years, and he can retire as a local legend.

Kendall Stephens is his father Everett Stephens?

DJ Mitchell? Son of the Gold Coast Roller that put his arm through a glass window in frustration @ the Snake Pit? I can't recall his name but played with Andrew LeFleur.

Tad Dufelmeier JR, hope he is not as agro as his Father (who has a great 3pt shooter).

Perth taking a very interesting path.
Rumour is they have lined up another Centre, not an import, and it will shock everybody and not in a good way. I don't quite believe it myself.
But no its not Jawai.

Also tip to replace Hire with a familiar name, and again run with only 2 imports.
And they are Praying for the return of a friendly face to fill that 2nd import slot.

As a whole I don't mind the players I have heard. Pluses and Minuses, but I think that overall the team would be slightly stronger and have better depth. So have to wait and see. The Centre idea is so crazy it may be true.
