Good pickup.
As was mentioned, it was reported he had offers from 3 clubs, but never confirmed who those were. Homicide hinted at the obvious connection, but nothing more.

At the risk of starting the idiots off again, where does he fit into the 6's lineup?
Is he going to start at the 4? or backup DJ & Humphries?

So if my maths is correct, that leaves you with 2 slots to fill. One will be an import PG (of some description).
Any idea what you're chasing for the final slot?

With the addition of Pinder, along with Humphrie, DJ, and OK, and with McV also in the team, your front court seems set?
So another guard or SF?

Has the addition of Humphries and Pinder covered Henry's need for a 2nd import?

Import/6’8 Mcveigh

Vet PG who can defend and shoot.
Elite SF who can defend and shoot. Newbill?

Keanu Pinder is a name so have to give the Sixers that but at 6'8" he's a bit undersized for the back up centre spot. I would've liked a bit more height there.

I guess the thinking is one of DJ or Humphries will likely be on the court at most times so unlikely to be an issue.

I think he'll be more productive than Kyei but he’s not going to blow people away. Struggled defensively at Arizona and that’s probably why he didn’t see more court time. Unsure how he’s been going in Europe.

So we're basically signing unproven talent. So what if Humphries was gleague and got a call up to nba. Did nothing there, with Kentucky or Kings.
Going to be a long season.

One thing that was said on Overtime was that he was only interested in "playing", which I took to mean he wanted minutes, rather than just polishing the pine. And that's not unusual.
So we'll never know what he was promised/offered at the various clubs.
Even assuming Perth were one of the teams in the hunt, its not uncommon that a team might offer more minutes than Perth (at least to somebody who's not one of our prime starters.)

Best of luck to him, and great to see a young Indigenous man playing in the NBL.

I know nothing of Keanu Pinder, so can't comment on his prospects.

On the Humphries comment(s) above, didn't Humphries do reasonably well when he played with Sydney as a 19 year old? He won Rookie of the Year that season, before trying his chances overseas. I can't recall how strong the other rookie-eligible players were that season?

Also, the 36ers' team so far looks pretty young and short on NBL-level experience. Especially in the likely starting 5. The remaining players (imports?) will need to be experienced starters, and one will have to be a team-oriented, active, on-court leader.

I believe 3 spots left D2.0.

Pinder offers something a bit different. Better version of Obi, better finisher around the rim and can shoot a little. Not the worst option off the bench. Remembering Obi started last year.

2 out of the 3 remaining need to be starters.

Two spots left only 10 man rosters this season and Giddey being a Next Star doesn't count as a roster spot. We're only starting the season with one import as JVG likes to do and hopefully the rumour of Blanchfield is legit.

Humphries/Pinder
Johnson/Kyei
?/McVeigh
Teys/Dillon
Import?/Giddey/Mudronja

Apologies I missed a player. so 2 spots left.

JVG is confident the PG/SG import will be a star hence the 1 import.

All depends on the last local. you'd assume he is a starter if not they wouldn't get rid of Drmic. They got the Humphries/Froling change right. If he's of starting calibre then this squad should defiantly be pushing for finals.

We were in the mix to make finals last season with 1 and a half imports, a disgruntled coach and disgruntled players.

sorry Zodiac, if you have Teys as a starter then you aren't a legit shot at finals.

Maybe a great lockeroom guy and is a hustler but not a starter in the NBL

If you compare him to the 2/3 local guys (not imports) from other teams last season:
- Melb: Goulding, McCarron
- Perth: Steindl
- Bullets: Sobey(maybe PG), Gliddon (left)
- Hawks: Blanchfield, Dech
- NZ: Webster
- Cairns: Noi
- Phoenix: Magden, Stephens
- Kings: Lisch, Newley

He is a level below all of these in my opinion

Teys may not start others have speculated McVeigh might start at SG way too big for that IMO and we need someone in the starting five who is willing to play defence.

A Randle-like scoring PG import, Humphries, DJ and possibly Blanchfield means someone in the starting lineup has to play some D which is why I think Teys will probably start at SG.

Pretty average side, needs a star import and another import who's good.

1 import not good enough IMO

Henry wanted a 2nd import. That has, as discussed, been largely ameliorated by signing Humphries and Pinder. I haven't heard the Blanchfield rumour, but if true, who needs another import?

I'm guessing, depending on how he plans to use McVeigh and Dillon, that you need a 2 or 3 as your last player. Blanchfield would certainly fit that bill.

This is the actual lineup, been said a million times by Henry....

Import/6'4 Dillon/6'5 Mudronja
6’7 Giddey/6’3 Teys
Import/6’8 Mcveigh
6’11 Johnson/6’9 Kyei
7’0 Humphries/6’9 Pinder

And...
Dillon will play some 2
Mcveigh 2/3/4
Kyei 4/3/5

Future...
Teys and Dillon likely gone after this season.
Mudronja upgraded to backup, I.white to come in most likely in expanded 12 man roster
2 imports + potentially 1 budget import sf or sg

Too many "average" players not enough "good" players

Too early to say.
Import PG and last signing are complete unknowns.
Humphries V2.0, Pinder, and Giddey are unknowns in this league.
Henry should also be a lot better than the last time we saw him.

This could still finish up being a very strong lineup.

Love it when people use phrases such as "we all know" to justify their own uninformed opinions.

For starters, defence was a dirty word under Joey, so who knows what Henry might be able to extract.

Your Starting import PG is still unknown, so you can't claim he's a poor defender.
You don't know who'll be starting at the 2 & 3, so one of those could still be a good defender.
You don't know how Humphries and Pinder will fare, so you can't write them off either.

The imports are not known at 1 and 3 positions. Thus, they need to be elite defenders to have any chance.

I think they've recruited reasonably well, all things considered, given some people already had a foot out the door. That's assuming Humphries is half-decent, which he certainly looked in recent games/workouts. Would be nicer to have them looking like favourites or serious threats but it wasn't exactly a dream run into the off-season. Got some good young pieces.

Adelaide have rebuilt strongly and continue to keep Johnson. I agree with some of the concerns about the imbalance with existing contracts though.

If Giddey is good enough to start then he should start. If he's not then he'll need to earn his minutes just like anyone else. Its' as simple as that. The team needs to do what's best for the team.

I'd be confident in the following:

Import Dillon
Teys Giddey
Import McVeigh
DJ Kyei
Humphries Pinder

Teys could offer better balance defensively to that starting unit.

So you think Giddey is so great, he will start in the NBL.

But you also think he is too crap to start in the NBL.

I hope you can understand my confusion.

DJ, I'll grant you, but defence was never his role under Joey.
Humphries V2.0 is an unknown in the NBL
He wasn't much chop last time round, but that was 3 years ago. Now everyone is convinced that he's improved so much that he's the highest paid marquee in the league, so maybe his defence has improved too.
