For Melbourne Baba is an Asian exception so another roster spot is available.
Kuany Kuany rumoured to be that player.

Cairns also have Mojave King as a NS.

Magnay would start over Froling at Brisbane.

He's takes a local spot. It’s only next stars that are considered outside of the 10

Sydney will play Cooks in the three, it's where he wants to play. Moller to start in the four and Newley off the bench.

& Goorj has publicly come out & stated their 2nd inport is a Bryce Cotton stopping 2 Guard... so Froling or Deng or Darling or Bairstow or a Next Star will be the starting 4 man.

Though thanks for getting this thread rolling

Can Perth cover the loss of Kay, Plumlee, Martin, and White?

Perth are screwed until Cotton Naturalises.
Not only will that give them another import slot, but will free up a huge amount of Tax.

We've discussed before, Any chance Mudronja can be DP?

I don’t see the point in them realising half way through the season that their roster is inadequate and try to slip a second import in.

C Humphries/Pinder
F Johnson/Kyei
F import (2/3)/McVeigh
G Dech/Teys
G Import/Giddey/Dillon/Mudronja

Flexibility - Dech/import 2/3 to handle shooting and defence, import point that’s a machado type distributor, Giddey comes in as a distributor, McVeigh comes in as a shooter, Pinder and Kyei offer altheticism not offered by DJ or IH and Teys is the rock who keeps the systems running and defensive intensity. Dillon and Mudronja offer guard depth and training fodder

The local centre spot for Perth has me worried who is available?
Pledger, Ogilvy , Brandt ( linked to United but not signed). Any others?
The import power forward needs to be a stud.

Maybe Perth have another plan up their sleeve e.g. Motum who knows.

The White signing doesn't bother me as he is a minor rotation guy and Blanchfield sharing the three with Steindl is good too.

I'm thinking NZ are clear favourites right now. Melbourne, SE Melbourne and Sydney all looking strong, but need to see imports to see which looks best. Perth have Cotton, but at this stage the rest of the roster is nothing to get excited about. They'd want two pretty strong signings to round the roster out if they want to be in contention.

Brisbane 36er Rejects and Hawks don't look that impressive at this stage. Cairns have huge holes in their roster right now. Will come down to the imports they end up with. Sixers look to have a strong frontcourt, especially if they can get away with DJ and Humphries on the floor together defensively. Big question marks with their guards and wings at this stage though. Need to see how Giddey handles the NBL, if McVeigh can handle a bigger role and if they do in fact get Shelvin Mack or a similarly high level experienced lead guard. If they really want to compete with the top 3 the owner needs to find the cash for a good second import like Newbill or Hopson as well as Mack.

Regarding Melbourne United, surely it's time Barlow came off the bench. Has been a great player and can still contribute but can’t be a starter. I hope they finally give McCarron the starting role at the point as I feel he’s under sized and not suited to the 3. I’d go with;

McCarron / Illi
Goulding / Baba
Hopson /
Import / Barlow
Brandt / Acuil

Bit more balance in my opinion.

Connor Henry finally finished all quarantining yesterday and was on news last night saying the 36ers are definitely starting the season with 1 import given ability and athleticism of locals, albeit having a young group.

I read that as will see how it goes and bring in 2nd import depending on need after they see who steps up.

Obviously talking team up as you would expect

Rosters still to be finished, all sides at present look reasonably even.

Which coach will feel the early pressure. I'd say Vickerman and Weaver will want their sides going early, even Goorgian as hawks spending plenty money.

With only 3 of last seasons roster back Goorjian and the Hawks resemble an expansion team if he gets them to the playoffs or even the cusp of playoffs you would call that a pass mark.

The coach under pressure would be Gleeson as we see how he responds to losing Kay and Martin. The Wildcats need to get those last two roster spots spot on.

It seems that after winning b2b the Cats talk-up the idea of a 3-peat, but don't necessarily go all-in to achieve it.

This will be the biggest upheaval I can recall in recent years. Losing 4 really key players from last season.
Without final imports signed, its hard to say who will be the front-runners next season, but there have certainly been some exciting signings, and overall it is looking really competitive.

Given the two recent signings, I am really starting to wonder what they will do next

KET wow. That roster ranking is... wow, are you all there? like did your parents drop you on your head?

I especially laughed at the "Drmic" like he's a whopping great, whizbang addition. He's trash and Brisbane look insanely bad on paper now with Lamar gone... Adelaide last? With some of the nicest additons like Humphries, Dech, Pinder... wow. I think you'll find Adelaide look extremely good and if you know much about Connor Henry you know he'll get the best out of Humphries and Dech.

I can tell you the bottom 3 will more than Likely be SEM, Brisbane (Dead last) and New Zealand.

6’4 J.Tate(I)/6’7 B.Newley
6’8 X.Cooks/6’8 C.Moller
7’0 A.Bogut/6’10 J.Hunter

But it looks like no Bogut or tate atm

IMO, Brisbane went from genuine contender to top wooden-spoon contender with the loss of Patterson.

With LP in the 20/21 team , the Bullets looked as good as most. Now they look like a rudderless ship. I, for one, never realised how influential LP is/was in that team. "You don't know what you've got till you lose it, eh!?

Haven't heard that Brisbane are chasing Hopson. Why not? There is lots of discussion re Patterson v Hopson with advocates for both/either. Seems that NZ would have been happy had Hopson signed but he did not so they "settled" for LP (some consolation prize, hey?). Would Hopson fill the role as Patterson did in the Bullets line-up? And if the Bullets do go for and get him, it will make for a great match-up when NZ and Bris play each-other.

Brisbane Bullets-Lemanis

6’3 N.Sobey/6’6 T.Krebs
6’7 S.Hopson(I)/6’6 A.Drmic
6’10 W.Magnay/6’11 H.Froling
6’11 M.Hodgson/7’0 T.Harrison

DP
6’6 K.Dennis SG?
6’7 C.Goldfinch SF?
6’9 C.Dalton PF?

Wigness is somehow not a next star... seems odd.

It'll be interesting to see what Perth do with the PF and C spots, my gut tells me they're still trying to get Oliver or if not another import PF with high offensive IQ. With the C spot, I'd say they must be holding out as long as they can hoping Cotton gets naturalised so they can bring back Plumdog.

Anyone watching kings last season in the second half, Cooks started in the 3 spot and Newley came off the bench. They changed it at seasons end and in finals with Newley starting and Cooks off the bench. I don't believe Cooks will play in the 4 spot unless Didi returns. In the last interview I watched with Weaver, he seemed to think that both Casper and Tate were a good chance of returning. This is not what was said by him previously. In the first half of season Moller rotated through the 3 and 4 spots. Weaver runs a very nba type system where he has a point guard and all other players run lanes and interchange positions, obviously last year he played a 1 and 5 with Bogut being there but if Casper and Tate return I’d say it’s going to be all run and gun and swapping on D.
