I can sense a list coming on.

The list would be too long.

Jan being pushed out because she tried to stay on says it all really.

because at 68 if she cooperated it could have been announced as her retirement.

She is one of a few that need to go.

Who will replace her is the next question and Lonergan should not be the one as he was a Jan Stirling placement as one of the boys.

A new development coach is needed for sure.

Maybe BA should look O/S
Break the cycle of parochial HPP coaches selections
Of state based biased .

There are a number of very good candidates around Europe - perhaps we need a Next Star program for coaches who are ultimately wanting to get into the NBA LOL

Send the broom over to SA when you've finished please

Way overdue and a great outcome for the game.
Best case - head hunt a highly thought of European.
Worst case and more likely- hire someone already in the HP Oz system.
Lack of money will probably result in a sub par hire

BA will save some $$$ for sure by releasing her.

You would think lonergan is next. We have gone backwards in shooting %, ball handling and high pressure D across all levels. I'm with the rest, time to poach someone from the Spainish program.

Yes, Weedy, spanish influence would be perfect. I think the broom needs to go through the entire current staff. This would send a message that mediocrity at all levels of the game will not be tolerated.
Someone who can recognise basketball IQ would be a breath of fresh air.
I am sick of watching, particularly at junior level, players been pushed through the HP system that play with no poise and composure (I'm looking at you Gems).
The European style of play is getting better and better and from what we just witnessed at the mens World Cup, holds up in major competitions.
Fingers crossed for a decent outcome

Unfortunately a lot of the High Performance Coaching is JOBS FOR THE BOYS in alot of the states and good people miss out.

If your friends with Lonergan you get a gig.

Saying send the broom to SA is very harsh. Metro are current holders of U16 and U18 Girls gold medals. It's not an accident that happened.

Yep, if SA is bad. What's WA?

Of course it's not an accident, they had a couple of exceptional talents that got them over the line despite the awful management by BSA high performance

Top down, hose it out

Once Gardiner has gone through juniors then SA Metro will be right back in the pack with WA

Nonsense SabreTooth. Regardless of any one individual's ability and performance, they never win by themselves. SA deserve credit. Results don’t lie and the HP staff have a pretty strong argument they’re doing a good job in recent times.

Fill out your HP Survey and let them know how you feel, if you’re disgruntled about anything or anyone.

SA have plenty of talent 07/08, it's not just Gardiner.
Apart From wa m boys, the wa program has achieved very little in a long time.
Act has done some good things, tas has overachieved and nt do not count.

Fair points, I will wait and see how results go in the next few years with the 09s onwards.

Seems to be the girls holding the program up though

I thought U16 and U18 SA Metro girls were very well coached at AJCs this year.
McPhail (U18) and Hilbig (U16) look to have bright futures in the national set-up down the road, credit to Butler for moving on some of the older coaches and going young.
Agree with Weedy, not just Gardiner in SA girls. Imo, she is certainly very talented but will be interesting to see how she develops her passing game and getting on the defensive glass going forward.
They are loaded with talent in 07, 08 and to a lesser degree 09.
I would be sticking with a winning formula, they are obviously doing something right there!

I think the difference with the 08s is the 3 talented bigs in Gardiner, Jones and Crase. SA Metro got very lucky to have all 3 born in the same year

Who is arguing that the 08' SA Metro girls weren't tall and talented on a thread about Jan Stirling and BA? Show yourself.
