The NBA G-League Is An Absolute Joke

This is just downright pathetic:

2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

Flamengo Rio de Janeiro (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 90 - Austin Spurs (G-League champs) 58

G-League record: 0-1

San Lorenzo Buenos Aires (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 77 - Austin Spurs (G-League champs) 59

G-League record: 0-2

2020 FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

Tenerife Canarias (Basketball Champions League Europe - 2nd/3rd tier European league champs) 110 - Rio Grande Valley Vipers (G-League champs) 89

G-League record: 0-3

San Lorenzo Buenos Aires (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 96 - Rio Grande Valley Vipers (G-League champs) 90

G-League record: 0-4

2021 FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

G-League did not participate, due to Covid-19

2022 FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

Flamengo Rio de Janeiro (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 94 - Lakeland Magic (G-League champs) 71

G-League record: 0-5

Lakeland Magic (G-League champs) 113- Zamalek Giza (Basketball Africa League champs) 78

G-League record: 1-5

2023 (I) FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

Sao Paulo Basket (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 91 - Rio Grande Valley Vipers (G-League champs) 70

G-League record: 1-6

Rio Grande Valley Vipers (G-League champs) 107 - US Monastir (Basketball Africa League champs) 84

G-League record: 2-6

2023 (II) FIBA Intercontinental Cup:

Al Ahly Cairo (Basketball Africa League champs) 82 - G-League Ignite (G-League stars team) 76

G-League record: 2-7

Franca Sao Paulo (Basketball Champions League Americas champs) 98 - G-League Ignite (G-League stars team) 89

G-League record: 2-8

G-League Ignite (G-League stars team) 80 - Al Manama (West Asian Super League champs) 60

G-League record: 3-8

So the G-League champs and stars teams have an overall record of 3-8 at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup playing against second tier level European teams and teams from South America, Asia, and Africa. But, their record against second tier European teams and teams from South America is 0-7. And they even managed to lose a game to an African team.

You're putting Champs like those team won the GLeague that year, they won the previous year before they went to them Fiba games

Austin Spurs in 2019 - Finished 23rd
Vipers in 2020 - Finished 25th
G League Ignite teams are put together with 18-19 year olds being the "go" to players ... it’s not G League stars

Also the top players on the teams playing in the international cup are better Americans/foreigners playing in the G League

The other teams had changed rosters too. It wasn't just the G-League teams. The other teams. So that's not a valid excuse at all.

FIBA's Intercontinental Cup is an abortion.

We know other teams change rosters what does that have to do with what you try to suggest?

You tried to diminish the G League champions by your topic. The GLeague teams that played in the intercontinental cup isn't the same roster than won the championship the season before. Also the two way players aren’t gonna play in those intercontinental cup games either. Totally different teams

The G-League teams actually usually add two way players and guys on 10 day contracts just for that tournament. One time they added like 4 guys from the NBA and still got blown out.

If you took a decent G-League roster and allowed the coaching staff 12 months to coach the team with continuity and had the goal to actually win a league it would be a different story.
