Flowers' minutes

How come Flowers doesn't get many minutes? Sixers have too many perimeter players?

Since the game against the Hawks where he scored 23pts, he has played:

15 mins
0 mins
6 mins
4 mins

in the next 4 games.

Who knows, looking from the outside it certainly doesn't make sense. He looks certainly useful offensively, defensively looked ok as well.

Adelaide's rotations and choices by and large suck.

Play the kid more (at wing)

CJ has no idea.
Any news on the import ? (Ha ha)
I'm assuming those two wins convinced everyone involved we had a roster to compete.

Same issues as the Hawks, the roles aren't clearly defined, no clear rotation, too many b players with overlapping skill sets.

The kid had 5 turnovers in his next 20 minutes after the Illawarra game. Hitting some shots on the Hawks doesn't mean you're ready to be a consistent all-court contributor.

You obviously forgot how poorly played in those 15 minutes.

The next two games they won and possibly would have lost if he played. Fans prior to that were screaming to shorten the rotations. They shorten the rotations and they still complained about no Flowers.

The most recent game he hit a 3 but then played poor defense. Perth would have made him switch onto Cotton constantly so it was a strategic decision.

When he did have 20 odd most of them were from open 3s and some in transition. He is not going to get that on the regular.

I like the kid but CJ will have to be selective on when he can use him

His issue is ball security.
But it is on the coaches to reduce his turnover count.

The risk with taking Next Stars... especially ones you come out of the gate claiming will be starting PGs.

The Hawks I feel have done a decent job finding Johnson spot minutes here and there - overall he's probably looked more deserving of them than Flowers, but the Sixers should at least be looking to do the same.

If he was good enough he would be playing. Personally I think he has been over hyped and surrounded by people pumping him up before he has done the work to get the success.

You are most likely right, but unfortunately one of the groups of those people were the Adelaide front office.

He looks like he's got great potential, just has to use practice time to get more consistent and rounded. Could have a good impact later in the year if he puts in the work.

Later in the year or later in the season? (And if he hasn't already been put on ice...)

I don't get Flowers not getting mins. There has been quite a few times when the five on court have performed so much better with him on the court. It wasn't just his final 13mins of the Illawarra game, but he also came on late in 1st after Dech had given Illawarra a 10pt lead and instantly the group looked faster, more proactive and flexible, way better defensively and in transition offence. Also against Melb, Sixers had a five of Galloway, Wiley, Flowers, Marshall, Cadee and they held Melb on defence and had Sixers up 64-62 before they were replaced with the starters and it went downhill. The Sixers have missed a huge opportunity of giving players like Flowers good mins in the early part of the season including preseason to develop them and getting some good chemistry with a few. This includes Marshall and Galloway rather than giving mins to Dech and McCarron in games they lost anyway.

^ Flowers was starting and had to be taken out of the starting 5, then out of the rotation, because he isn't good enough. I thought that to be self evident given the turnovers, bad shots and non existent defence.

That was when he was playing PG in pre season. But when you've had only a couple games playing 15-20mins where you had an impact, seems silly to not try and get more of an impact by playing them. Sixers are one of the slowest teams, you would think someone with some leg speed would be given more opportunities.

Between CJ X Rillie and the coach at Hawks

All of em are clueless when it comes to rotations and understanding what is needed , when it comes to in game adjustments and how to utlize the talent they have have on there roster/benches

All newer coaches so makes sense

But the level of idiocy when it comes to these guys and there lack of knowledgw has been exposed over the past few seasons

There may be a clue as to when the players meeting happened and the decline in minutes.

Players meeting was October 20th

Flowers minutes before then

Brisbane 15:14
Melbourne 12:59
Perth 5:53
Sydney 9:56
Illawarra 20:45
SEM 14:54

After

Perth 0:00
NZ 6:21
Perth 3:40

Has Mitch been any better on the turnover front?

According to RealGM, Mitch has had 15 turnovers in 222 minutes this season.

It seems you are correct on Mitch's TOs. I am very surprised, because I rarely see anything good happen when Mitch has the ball offensively. It is good to see CJ trending his minutes down so far this season and reducing his ball-handling duties too.

Flowers has his flaws, but the team could really benefit from his shooting, rebounding and transition offence if he is given some consistent minutes. I’d like to see the kid get 8-10 mins every game and see if he can build some confidence.

If he does, you never know, he might be the difference between making finals or not later in the season.

Flowers needs to earn his minutes by improving his flaws at both ends at training. If he does that he'll get his chance, because the talent is there unquestionably.

His close circle(Family and mentor) is busy making IG videos about manifesting money and blessings etc, seems like they've been indulging in something mind altering. Also didn't help when he was liking a bunch of twitter posts saying sack cj and stuff like that. Doesn't really endear you to the coach I can't imagine.

Players like Cadee and Sunday aren't exactly setting the world on fire are they. Even DJ has just been a glorified chucker for the most part

If that's true fuck him and keep nailing his arse to the bench CJ.

"Players like Cadee and Sunday aren't exactly setting the world on fire are they."

Although true, both of these guys are role players and can be expected to step in and contribute more positive than negative in their minutes. Flowers (and most Next Stars, really) shows flashes, but he is more likely to cough up the ball than he is to knock down a three. He's only going to get better by playing, but if Adelaide want to win games they need what Cadee and Dech bring more than what Flowers does right now. The conundrum is that the only way Flowers improves (and the whole point in him coming down to Australia) is with court time, so the Sixers need to be smart with how they find it for him and find little opportunities and lineups where he can see some minutes without losing them games.

Flowers received 14 minutes this week and scored 8 points. The team was +3 during his minutes. Not bad.

Sunday played 14 minutes for 0 points and the team was -18.
