36ers re-sign Nathan Herbert

The Hood Sweeney Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce the resigning of guard Nathan Herbert. Herbert fielded strong interest from other clubs and particularly the NBL team from his home state the Melbourne Tigers.

Herbert however decided on Adelaide due to a sense of unfinished business with the club. Herbert was the surprise find for the 36ers last year when he went from his expected role as bench player to influential starter for the team.

Herbert increased his career averages in all three major statistical categories to average around 8 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Herbert said of his resigning "I am excited about being involved with the Hood Sweeney 36ers again and making sure we redeem ourselves to the Adelaide fans this season. I am also very excited about working and getting better under (36ers Head Coach) Marty Clarke."

Great signing, this guy really sets the tone with his intensity. Definitely time to sign a marquee guy now, IMO set things up around Schenscher, and remember seeing his face everywhere it seemed the year he was here aka a marketable person unlike the 'dead pan' Ballinger. Hope there are some nice untried imports to come aswell.

Herbert closed last season with seven straight games in double-figures.

One of my favourite players from 09/10, so I'm happy to see him re-sign here in Adelaide.

you 6ers fans must be getting worried about Ballinger... if he was a priority or so integral to your team (being captain and all) he'd be signed by now.

Great news if he continues the way he was last year he will be a stand out player next season.

Schench just said he will be speaking to Marty Clark during a HSH interview :)

signings so far are encouraging but ng, DJ and Herbert are only good bench players - lets get excited when / if we sign some guys that can make an impact in this league - remember your team is only as strong as the last guy on the bench !
Defence and youth are surely Marty Clarkes 'musts' so lets hope he can attract some guys that can actually play d, not just talk it and hopefully he can unearth a genuine young player that can make an impact in the NBL not just rehash locals eg Hill/Ng that have obvious limitations at this level ( like playing D)!!!

Go sixers but lets get a new look with a new coach that has some big wraps from some genuine local ball players like Ingles/Newley !

Great signing. Live wire who is able to turn games with his never say die attitude.

Now for Ballinger and Schensh. Looking good so far.

Good signing.
We've got a few of our role players signed now.
Just need to bring in some match winners now.
Herbert is a great defender and can knock down some shots.
Ng is a great shooter, but is a bit of a liability on defense and isn't a ball carrier.
Johnson will probably play some quality minutes, but won't win us any games. Great thing is he's U23, so that worry is out of the way.
2 players with suspect defense, supplemented with a defensive specialist.

Hopefully we get 2 really good imports and Ballinger. That's where the wins will come from. One of the imports clearly has to be a Point Guard. Depending on the other Aussies we get, the second import could really be anything. Hopefully it's a Maxey type (athletic SF/SG type). Actually, I'd be pretty happy if we just went and poached both of the Gold Coast Imports.

Anom are you kidding me? Herbert was a bench player but last season he proved he was not bench player, he can make a valuable starter. Herbert really stepped up it just sucked the rest of the team wasnt at the same level as him.
