Kings vs Tigers Jan 28

Ok... Maybe it's been brought up before, but how can United get away with wearing a retired number in the Tigers uniforms, particularly when the player it was retired from is the oppositions assistant coach. Absolute joke

They're heritage jerseys only, they’re now known as and playing as United. People need to chill and Copeland should be more concerned with the security of his job.

Ugly jerseys anyway.

8 worn by Adnam is also a retired Tigers number. Don't see any of these Tigers clowns firing up about that one.

Upset when United don’t play in a Tigers jersey during each heritage round but now upset they do, refusing to acknowledge United are/we’re the Tigers, but now they are? Find something worthwhile to whine about.

Why do these commentators claim Randle is the answer for the Kings and to sign him ASAP? The guy is a hog and a blackhole. JvG doing something right for once.

Wearing a retired number from a club that isn't in the NBL? How is that a problem?
Arguably it would be a sign of respect for LC. Equally having a midget wear it, is kinda insulting.

"Wearing a retired number from a club that isn't in the NBL? How is that a problem?"

Because United claim to be representing all former Melbourne clubs. If they want to represent them, they can't pick and choose when you decide their history doesn’t matter.

Oh please. They're paying tribute to a part of their heritage for heritage round. Doesn't mean a player should have to change their number. Don't be so precious.

Sorry, I didn't fully understand why Ware was wearing it before posting. Fair enough, it is showing respect to their heritage then.

That's right. The boss will buy a championship for this team no matter the cost. They have no culture just heaps of cash to throw around. It will probably pay off eventually for them but hopefully not for a while.

How are those sour grapes? More wine? Worry more about Joey Wright and his Harley Quinn personality than Melbourne. United are fine.

Is there anyone who thinks Melbourne won't get the minor premiership?

Home to Brisbane next game while Illawarra have a double with NZ and Perth have a double with Adelaide. Have to assume United wins while the other 4 teams go 1-1

If United wins just 2 of their remaining 5 games -- bearing in mind 4 of them are at home -- then they're 18-10. The current second place (Adelaide) already has 9 losses.

Sydney Kings would've spent more money than the Kings, money doesn't win championships, players do, as Cotton and Prather proved last. That said money does by good players like Prather and Cotton last year. Some clubs no how to purchase players and jvg got no idea.

Enjoyed the game, the way Moller got booed at a few times I'd say there were a few salty tears. Melbourne not at there best but enough disapline to get the job done.

Why is Adnam in the dog house and out of the rotation.

The only thing Hooley has over him is size from what I can see.

Hooley has a crap handle and seems to turn it over as soon as he gets in.

Adnam can shoot and handle and was showing poise early on in the year,

Can anyone shed some light here?

Serious basketball posts only please -

Kings need a 5 man, neither of there 5 men could defend a bar stool. No lateral movement in either of them, barely DP standard.

How long does the Heritage celebration go for?

That was, what, the 3rd game United has worn Tigers jerseys for? With a game in between wearing their usual strip against Cairns. Was that due to a colour clash with the Tigers red?

Haven't been watching much NBL in past fortnight- has every team been continually wearing heritage uniforms?

Talking points from the game:

- Boone has averaged 19pts and 13rbs in 4 games vs Sydney.

- United wins 4 of 5 and they are guaranteed top spot. Win 3 of 5 and worst case scenario is a percentage battle for top spot- IF Adelaide, Perth or NZ won all their remaining games. United's last 5 are Vs Bri, Vs NZ, @ NZ, Vs Per, Vs Ill.

- Despite winning 10 of 11 and dominating teams like Illawarra, Adelaide and Sydney (combined 11-0) United is still only 1-4 vs Perth and NZ with the sole win being a 2 point victory in Perth. United now has form and confidence so looking fwd to these likely playoff previews coming up against those teams that will help decide ladder positions.

They said heritage month, so yea but different, Perth didn't play with it this weekend, they embarrassed themselves with it.

Didn't see Illawarra as well? Not sure about the other clubs.

I have a lot less issue with the amount Melbourne are spending than I do the fact that the "luxury tax" quietly disappeared. Seemed to be a good way to both boost lower teams and help prevent teams from spending their way into oblivion.

Wearing retired Tigers numbers, while claiming to honour the Tigers heritage shows the complete hypocrisy involved in the entire United franchise.

They claim to be a new club when it is convenient, yet hang the Tigers championship banners in an attempt to steal the history of the club that Kestleman killed.

This is just the latest and most obvious example of how you can't claim to be both new and not new at the same time
