Hawthorn and Camberwell men are going to swap divisions. Hawthorn men will drop to Divy 1 and Camberwell are going to enter State championship.

Hawthorn are in all sorts at the moment.

Smart thing would be to drop to D1 for a couple of years to sort themselves out.

Whittlesea has annouced tryouts for D1 men so assuming RMIT & Altona and them go up.

corio and Bella in SC Men instead of keys

and talk of Gippsland, colac and a third country team to enter D2

No more to be said - call it promotion call it what you want I think most of this forum including myself got it wrong I thought Keys would be a shoe in to go up.

The Big V admitted themselves that the ladder was compromised with teams playing different amount of games and an uneven / unfair fixture.

If the season had played out in its entirety, both Mildura and Sherbrook would have finished ahead of Whittlesea.

Will they both be going up? Both wanted to.

Would love for Big V to provide some form of justification for this.

How has this been allowed to happen.

Interestingly Surfcoast updated their website today stating they play Big V

It says :-

"The Surfcoast Basketball Association (SBA) welcomes all basketball players, coaches, officials and supporters to the Surfcoast Chargers Representative basketball program. The Surfcoast Chargers teams compete in the Big V Men and Women, Country Basketball League (CBL) Men and Women, and the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) competitions."

If Big V are canvassing the league to see which teams want to go in which divisions after the rollercoaster 2020-2021 seasons and Casey and Keilor leaving, then why don't those people on here complaining that their club didn't get promoted just apply to go up ?

Stop bitching.

Big V need a massive revamp. Hopefully this is the beginning of this shake up.

Said it before - this isn't promotion and relegation this is applications for divisions. Forced by the move of clubs to NBL1 and the entry of 3 new teams. .

Wallan i assume like Keys can't confirm or have lost import, which lets face it was the team for most of the season.

surf Coast seems likely.

Clearly the Big V have said something to some and not others.

Sherbrooke are NOT going up, they will most likely win D2 but they aren't going up its RMIT, Whittlesea and Altona which makes room for the next 3 coming in.

Bellarine and Corio going up makes sense but feel for Keysborough, maybe the Hawthorn Camberwell switch is true.

Teams like Melbourne Uni have dodged a bullet - mind you Whittlesea Women have also been demoted to D1 out of CW

This is utter BS the Big V allowing this movement. I know my club would have approached the season very differently if we knew there was a chance to go up. Instead we finished mid table.

Those that trusted the Big V been screwed.

Your club did the right thing - maybe they didn't submit or begin planning for next season. This ain't what you do on the court its about how prepared you are on and off. roster, imports etc etc

How prepared do you have to be to go from D2 to D1?

What do you need to do off court to get out of D2? Isn't it the same requirements off court?

Big V just playing favourites again. How else do you explain Whittlesea going up?

Sherbrooke got clapped by RMIT both games and had multiple bad losses, not convinced they were the next best team, neither was Whittlesea. BUT Wallan seem to have been the biggest losers out of this.

Wallan was working all year at going up to D1. What happened?

Dont give me it was off court rubbish as they were proactive and live streamed games better than most clubs in State champ.

I'd be livid if i were Wallan.

This is what happens when you put all your eggs in the import basket like Wallan and Keysie have done. Not sustainable.

Unfortunately both clubs should have gone up but missed out cos imports left for better offers.

Same gripes. "We didn't plan on getting promoted so we finished mid-table".
What ?

It's pretty simple. Especially now with all the jumbling of teams. If you want your team to go up, your club should be approaching Big V and putting their case forward. Not engineering your team to finish mid table for a run next season. If you have the capacity to go up a division, present that to Big V, simple.

Then there is obviously an underlying factor why those teams didn't/weren't accepted up. Especially because Big V would be actively looking to fill some holes this offseason with their Divisions.

Bitch all you want, but if your club has all the right ingredients to go up, they can/will. Big V has a history of elevating teams upon request should they meet the requirements.

Or next season perhaps instead of planning to be mid-table, plan to win it.

Monix Keysie and Wallan finished 1st and 3rd respectively in 12 team comps. Would hardly call that mid table.

Monix

The mid table was in reference to #594 whose club "would have approached the season very differently if we knew there was a chance to go up. Instead we finished mid table.".

As for Wallan & Keysie, considering their placements and Big V needing to reshuffle the Divisions with 2 clubs pulling out to go to NBL1, I can only imagine they didn't apply, or if they did were rejected, and would have been given feedback as to why that was.

I don't know those clubs individually well enough, but as one poster said above, maybe its because they relied too heavily on their imports (I didn't see any of their games). But maybe it was the strength of their program as a whole ? Their venue. If they did apply and were rejected in being promoted, you saying they weren't given a reason why ?

Wallan applied. Big V like Whittlesea better. Simple.

From someone at BV
Both Wallan and Keysborough would have gone up had the imports not left. The common belief is that they relied on the players that left

Its a shame for both clubs but always a risk when you have good imports

Unlike everyone else on here i feel for them and i hope they both have a good season and can look to get promoted next year

Well done to the clubs that got promoted hope they do well next year

Exciting to see new clubs coming in. Been a long time coming. Well done

So now its been announced that Sharif Black (Wallan) is going to Mckinnon, this would spell one of the reasons they are being given a Div 1 opportunity, they put everything on the guys shoulders 40 plus points every night for 17 games is a hell of a scoring rate but what are the chances of finding another guard like that?

Have McKinnon got the first official signing of the off-season?

I think the league needs to hurry up and release its divisions to cut this crap out, Hawthorn while in trouble not sure they would just drop Big V. You can play in the league without paying players.

Not sure how hard it is to take registrations for the season, look at them debate and then release within 2 weeks. Fixturing obviously takes longer.

Hawthorns BigV team gotta be in jeopardy. But don't think hawthorn have pulled out (publicly) yet? Given their financial trouble probably regretting not opting out of this year. Surely that was discussed when they saw they were elbow deep in debt with no cash flow? Trying to hide the issue I guess but safe to say it’s out there now!LOL

Hawthorn were using funds from Domestic basketball to fund BigV, Junior domestic Clubs have pulled out of Hawthorn, so funds have dried up ! Not sure where they will get the $150K plus they need, seeing none of the teams pay for anything!

This is the reason they are in serious debt!
